VILLA TRISSINO, VILLA CALDOGNO, MAROSTICA AND BASSANO.

Departure by minibus from Vicenza for a half-day tour.

This overview begins with a stop outside Villa Trissino at Cricoli, which, according to legend, is the origin of the myth of Palladio. Tradition holds that in the second half of 1530, the noble G.G.Trissino of Vicenza met the young mason Andrea di Pietro at work in the yard of the villa.

Continue on to Caldogno for a visit of Villa Caldogno (open on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m.). Losco Caldogno, an active silk merchant, had inherited a court and several fields in Caldogno in 1541, and decided to commission Palladio for the restructuring of the court. The main façade is characterized by three great arches in the loggia atrium entrance, highlighted by a frame in rusticated brick. Inside, the two largest bedrooms were painted by G.A. Fasolo and G.B. Zelotti.

The next stop is Marostica, famous throughout the world for its chess game, which takes place every two years with living characters in the town square. Time for a free visit.

Finally we come to Bassano del Grappa where you can see and walk on the Wooden Bridge, designed by Andrea Palladio.

Tasting of the famous grappa from Bassano.

When finished, return to Vicenza.
