VILLA GODI MALINVERNI, MAROSTICA E BASSANO D.G.

Depart from Vicenza by minivan for a half-day tour, focussing on the earlier works of Andrea Palladio.
This overview begins with a stop outside Villa Trissino at Cricoli, which, according to legend, is the origin of the myth of Palladio. Tradition holds that in the second half of 1530, the noble G.G.Trissino of Vicenza met the young mason Andrea di Pietro at work in the yard of the villa.

Continue on to Villa Godi Malinverni, one of the first projects by Andrea Palladio, built between 1537 and 1542. The building is striking for the lack of ornamentation usually associated with Palladio’s mature work. The plan is arranged with suites of apartments arranged symmetrically on each side of the main sala and a recessed entry loggia. The interior is decorated with frescoes by Gualtiero Padovano and G.B. Zelotti. Admission included.

The next stop is Marostica, famous throughout the world for its chess game, which takes place every two years with living characters in the town square. Time for a free visit.
Finally we come to Bassano del Grappa where you can see and walk on the Wooden Bridge, designed by Andrea Palladio.
Tasting of the famous grappa from Bassano.
When finished, return to Vicenza.
